Authorities in Gatineau, Quebec, are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Alain Kamuzinzi, a 40-year-old cyclist who was reported missing after last being seen earlier this month. Police say there are growing concerns for his health and safety as efforts continue to determine his whereabouts.
According to the Gatineau Police Service, Kamuzinzi was last seen on the morning of June 2 riding his road bicycle on Atawe Street in the Hull sector of Gatineau. Since that time, family members and authorities have been unable to make contact with him, prompting an active missing person investigation.
Police indicated that there is reason to be concerned for Kamuzinzi’s well-being and are urging anyone who may have seen him or has information about his movements to come forward. Investigators believe there is a possibility that he may have traveled into Gatineau Park, a vast recreational area popular with cyclists, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts.
Authorities have released a detailed description in hopes of generating leads. Kamuzinzi is described as standing approximately 1.70 metres (5 feet 7 inches) tall, weighing about 86 kilograms (190 pounds), with a beard, a shaved head, and dark brown eyes.
When he was last seen, he was reportedly dressed in cycling attire, including a blue jersey with white sleeves, black cycling shorts, black cycling shoes, white socks, and a black bicycle helmet. Police say he was riding a distinctive blue-and-white Trek racing bicycle equipped with two water bottles—one white and one blue.
The disappearance has generated concern among both local residents and members of the cycling community, particularly given the amount of time that has passed since Kamuzinzi was last seen. Family members and friends are hoping that someone may remember seeing him on local roads, trails, or within Gatineau Park and be able to provide information that could assist investigators.
Police continue to follow up on leads and are encouraging anyone who may have encountered Kamuzinzi, seen a cyclist matching his description, or noticed his bicycle in recent days to contact authorities immediately.
As the search continues, loved ones remain anxious for his safe return and are appealing to the public to remain vigilant. Anyone with information is urged to call the Gatineau Police Service at or submit tips through their online reporting portal.
